St Albans Ladies Circle receives Charter from National President, 2nd July 2009

July 2nd  2009 was the hottest night of the year when all of Area 21 met for their annual Area Dinner. This year the venue was Mid Herts Golf Club in Wheathamptead and drinks were enjoyed on the terrace before sitting down in a very warm room for the meal. This year’s National President, Nicki Stocken, was in attendance, as well as all clubs in the Area (Harpenden, Letchworth, Radlett, Welwyn and St Albans) and many Tangent members, including Andrea Evans, past St Albans Circler, Past National President and Past International President. Now there is a role model!

It really was a fabulous evening.  National President Nicki gave a lovely speech, then presented our Chairman with the club’s Charter certificate. Marianne then gave an update of the story so far, because there were a lot of people in the room who did not know how well we had done. Marianne was then presented with a beautiful bunch of flowers from the club, as a thanks for all the work she had done as Chairman.

As you can see from the picture, Marianne was wearing the old St Albans Circle regalia. We were delighted that two Tangent members were able to attend at the last minute and were kind enough to bring the regalia along. As we care very much about Ladies Circle and its history we were honoured that St Albans Tangent lent us this clearly valued part of the club’s history.

It was good to chat with a lot of the other Circlers in the Area and to update them with how well everything was going as well as other people we have get to know over the last year. The night ended with a raffle with some superb prizes.  We would like to say thank you to Harpenden Circle for organising such a great evening and we look forward to organizing this event next year!
