St Albans Ladies Circle become Superwomen for the night!!!
April 19th, 2011OK, I hear what you’re saying, we’re Superwomen all of the time aren’t we, juggling work, home, kids, fundraising, fun and friendship?? Yes, of course we are. But this wasn’t your average Superwoman job, we were actually going to take the challenge asked of us by our great nation: “Your Country Needs You”
Yes, our Country is in need of physically strong, yet warm hearted women to help rid our streets of nasties whom want to induce fear on unsuspecting victims. Well, this wasn’t just the stuff of movies, we had the opportunity to empower ourselves to great heights and fulfil all our childhood dreams of donning a tight leotard and becoming real Superwomen (well for 90 minutes actually but who’s counting!)
St Albans Ladies Circle teamed up with local Hertfordshire Company, Street Defence UK, which was established 3 years ago by Colin Lee Berry who has over 15 years experience in martial arts and self-defence. Street Defence is the latest and most effective reality based self defence system which continually evolves to counter any new threats that could arise on the streets of today. The system is open to everyone, whether you have had martial arts training before or not.
Colin took us through our paces showing us techniques to aid in choke escapes, hand gun disarming, knife defence, punch defence, dealing with surprise attacks and headlock escapes. We covered a lot of ground in 90 minutes and even though we had a giggle trying them all out, the reality is that we learned some extremely viagra techniques to make us all feel that little bit safer when we’re out and about.
In the answer to the question “What did you do last night?” – We became Superheroes what about you!!!
